Abstract

The article provides a comparative analysis of the main starting points and principles of domesticcriminal legislation. It examines the principles of legality, equality of citizens before the law, guilt, justice, andhumanism, which are currently enshrined in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The article alsoexplores the relationship between these principles and the main starting points found in the previous criminallaws of the RSFSR. It identifies the constructive and positive aspects of the criminal laws of previous historicaleras. The article concludes that the principles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation are a result ofthe development of the main starting points and principles of the criminal laws of previous historical periods.
