Abstract
The article gives a brief analysis of the measures taken to improve measures aimed at protecting societyfrom the dissemination of unreliable (fake) information about the activities of the state. The author analysesthe state and prospects of legal regulation in this field on the basis of formal, legal, comparative and othermethods of research. It is stressed in particular that no agreement has been reached at present on theadoption of international legal instruments to protect States from fake information. In Russia, the adoptionof new legal acts and changes to existing legislation are associated with the introduction of new restrictionsand prohibitions aimed at preventing the dissemination of fake information. Attention is drawn to the needto concentrate the state efforts on disseminating reliable information, which has contributed to a decreasein the interest of citizens to sources containing fairy and other harmful information.
